The Back Cirque is an east-facing mountain basin in the southeast of the West Antarctic Adelaide Island . It is located north of the Sloman Glacier and is an indentation on the south side of a mountain ridge that extends from the south-eastern part of Mount Liotard in the Princess Royal Range .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named him in 1982 after Eric Kenneth Prentice Back (* 1942) from the British Antarctic Survey , who in addition to his work on the Adelaide station and in Grytviken, the Signy station (1974-1975), the Halley station (1975–1976), Faraday Station (1977–1978) and Rothera Station (1978–1979).
