Bad Hopfenberg is a moor spa and health resort in the East Westphalian town of Petershagen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The place is a state-approved climatic health resort and lies in the landscape of the north German lowlands .

geography

The place is located on a mountain in the northern part of the core city Petershagen . Here in the 16th century hops were grown for the Minden bishop in Petershagen. The bishops had an alternative seat in Petershagen Castle . Hence the name.

history

The health resort was first mentioned in a document in 1746, when the special quality of the spring water there became known. This healing spring still bubbles today. In 1824 Colon Traue built a bathing establishment there. At that time, the focus was on moor treatments with the healing mud from the Uchter moor and was called the Kurhaus “Hopfenberg”. In 1926 the facility came into the possession of the Hermann Nebel family from Bad Seebruch near Vlotho, who still operate the local health clinic today.

Bad Hopfenberg was opened up by the Mindener Kreisbahn in 1898. The route from Minden to Uchte was then discontinued in 1967 with the increase in individual traffic. During the week, Bad Hopfenberg can be reached by bus today, most patients come by car.
