Bad Temper Joe is a singer and mainly plays slide guitar , but also harmonica and electric guitar . His music draws on the blues , but also on musical traditions such as country and rock . His songs tie in with the program of the Great American Songbook , which he applies to the East Westphalian province. The voices that are recorded in the songs and related to one another include songs by Bob Dylan , the lyrics by Homer , pieces by Tom Waits , the Bible , sound borrowings from Charlie Sexton , quotes from the lyrics by Franz Kafka , riffs from the Rolling Stones , Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson .

Bad Temper Joe's program unfolds above all in a large number of concerts, especially in Germany, but also in Belgium and the Netherlands. In concert reviews he is repeatedly described as one of the "most important German representatives" of the blues. He usually plays solo, but also with a band and in a duet with the Belgian singer and guitarist Fernant Zeste, with whom he also recorded an album called Haunt . He is under contract with Timezone Records. The current album "The Memphis Tapes", which was not recorded in OWL, but in the Sun Studio in Memphis, is also labeled there. The album has been well received in the press.
