The Mindenerwald bathing lake is a small lake in the area of the municipality of Hille in the East Westphalian district of Minden-Lübbecke . The lake is named after the large forest area Staatsforst Minden / Mindenerwald , on the western edge of which the lake is located.
The lake is around 180 meters long and between 80 and 110 meters wide. The water area is 1.5 hectares. The bathing lake is 51 meters above sea level. 1.2 kilometers east is the White Hill , a 64 meter high moraine hill. The bathing lake is one of the four official bathing areas in the district and one of 71 in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It has a very good water quality. The lake belongs to the 47 hectare recreational area Mindener Wald and was developed as a bathing lake . For this purpose, a plastic separating layer was drawn into the subsoil, which seals the lake from below. The separating layer is to be replaced in 2013. The official bathing operation takes place from May to mid-September.
Around the Gut Mindenerwald there are six more unnamed lakes and ponds, which are not designated as bathing lakes. The largest of these is located directly to the east of the L803 road and, with a water surface of around 4.5 hectares, is even significantly larger than the actual swimming lake.
