Badger State Trail

The Badger State Trail is a 40 mile long so-called Vías Verdes in Wisconsin .

The Badger State Trail initially runs from the Illinois border via Clarno , Monroe (connection to the Cheese Country Trail ), Monticello (connection to the Sugar River State Trail ), Exeter , Belleville and Basco . The surface of the path consists of limestone in this section . Between Monticello and Belleville the route runs through the 370 m long Stewart Tunnel .

The section between Blasco to Madison is z. Currently still under construction. In the capital, Madison , the Badger State Trail is paved and known as the Southwest Path . In the south of the city there is a connection to the Military Ridge State Trail .

history

On December 15, 1993, the Madison- Freeport part of the Wisconsin and Calumet Railroad was closed. In 2006 a master plan for the conversion of the railway line was approved.
