The Badische Beekeeping School Oberentersbach is one of two beekeeping schools of the Baden Beekeepers Association . The second beekeeping school run by the regional association is in Heidelberg .

The Baden Beekeeping School in Oberentersbach provides practical and theoretical training for beekeepers, both members and non-members of the association. One focus is on multiplier training, i.e. the training of trainers in beekeeping associations. The apprenticeship to become a beekeeper (journeyman) under the name of Tierwirt , specializing in beekeeping , is carried out by state-recognized training companies and not by the Oberentersbach beekeeping school.

There are around 20–30 events per year, with up to 800 participants per year. From May to June, breeding material is distributed weekly. Every month there are usually free events for beekeepers and those interested in various topics related to beekeeping. The current training program is published on the website of the Baden Beekeepers 'Association and in the beekeepers' journal Bienen & Natur.

history

The forerunner of the Oberentersbach beekeeping school was the beekeeping school in Gengenbach , founded in the mid-1930s on the initiative of the chairman of the association, Franz Rösch from Hornberg and the breeding chairman Josef Klemm from Goldscheuer . A building designed in the style of Black Forest farmhouses was created in the model garden of the fruit growing association on the Nollen. In addition to the lecture hall, workshop and apiary, there were also sleeping places on the upper floor for visitors from outside. The school suffered a lot from the turmoil after the war and in 1951 the Offenburg District Beekeeping Association took over the area as a training apiary.

In 1962, with the unification of the two beekeeping associations in Baden, which were separated by occupation law , the school returned to the care of the regional association. In the mid-1970s, the company moved to Oberentersbach, a suburb of the city of Zell am Hammersbach . After the community reform, a new purpose was sought for the vacant school and town hall.
