Baeomyces rufus , and Brown Köpfchenflechte called, is an on acidic soils common to-find crusts of lichen .

description

The Brown Köpfchenflechte has a thin fine-grained or composed of very small scales indicated thallus , often slightly sorediös breaks. The color is gray to (especially when moistened) greenish. Their fruit bodies ( apothecia ), reminiscent of small mushrooms, are almost sessile to clearly stalked ( podiums whitish, maximum 4 to 5 mm high), pink to red-brown and irregularly convex or hemispherical.

The algae partner within the lichen symbiosis (photobiont) is the green alga Elliptochloris bilobata .

It can be confused with pink lichen , in particular , but its fruiting bodies are pink in color and usually more distinctly stalked.

Location and distribution

The brown capillary lichen occurs in the northern hemisphere circumpolar from the temperate to the boreal zone . In Europe, it is widespread on acidic soil or earth-impregnated stones, especially on slopes, in heaths or open forest areas from the boreal coniferous forest to the sub-Mediterranean region. It is rare or absent in limestone areas.
