Bagaha is a city in the state of Bihar in eastern India . It is part of the Pashchim Champaran district . Bagaha has the status of a City Council ( Nagar parishad ). The city is divided into 35 wards. It is about 244 km from Bihar's capital Patna and is close to the border with Uttar Pradesh .

Demographics

The city's population is 112,634 according to the 2011 census. Bagaha has a gender ratio of 889 women per 1000 men and thus a common surplus of men for India. The literacy rate was 59.84% in 2011. Almost 81.3% of the population are Hindus , around 18.4% are Muslims and around 0.3% belong to other religions. 17.8% of the population are children under 6 years of age. 7.3% of the population were members of the Scheduled Castes and 1.4% were members of the Scheduled Tribes .
