history
In 1891 the British colonial authorities had 73 inhabitants, 65 of whom were Turks and eight Greeks. In 1901 there were 34 more inhabitants, of whom 61 were Turks and 46 Greeks. Thereafter, the number of Turks slowly increased while the number of Cypriot Greeks decreased. In 1931 there were 67 Turks and 38 Greeks, in 1946 79 Cypriot Turks and 24 Cypriot Greeks lived in the village, in 1960 there were only 44 Turks. The fluctuating numbers are likely due to migrant labor. When conflicts arose in 1963, the Cypriot Turks fled to Ovgoros / Ergazi , Altınova / Agios Iakovos and Avgolida / Kurtuluş . In 1973 there were 46 Turks again, but apparently the refugees stayed in the places mentioned.
The 1978 census counted 299 Cypriot Turks, compared to 309 in 1996. These are mainly refugees from Larnaka who came to the village after the forced resettlement in 1975 , euphemistically known as the population exchange in Cyprus .
