Bahawalnagar is the capital of Bahawalnagar District in the southeastern region of Punjab Province in Pakistan. The old name of Bahawalnagar was Rojhanwali / Ubbha. Bahawalnagar was named in 1904 after Bahawal Khan V , the ruler of the princely state of Bahawalpur. Bahawalnagar is 308 km south of Lahore and 193 km south of Bahawalpur

history

Bahawalnagar - formerly known as Rojhanwali - was a settlement that consisted only of huts. The village of Rojhanwala is now two kilometers from the train station. In 1895 the Rojhanwala train station was opened. The first police station was opened in 1900-1901. The first school was opened in 1902-1903. The status of Bahawalnagar was changed to a Tehsil in 1914 . A panchayat was introduced in 1906. Bahawalnagar City Council was established in 1922. The first rulers were called up as Mir Majlis and Naib Mir Majlis.
