Map of the mountains of the moon

The map of the mountains of the moon is a map of the earth-facing side of the moon . It was published in 1878 by Johann Friedrich Julius Schmidt , director of the Athens observatory . The work consists of 25 sheets and contains almost 33,000 lunar craters .
