Bahne Asmussen (born April 16, 1769 in Dagebüll , † July 12, 1844 ) was a Protestant pastor , poet , and teacher in North Frisia .

Life

Bahne Asmussen was the son of a day laborer. As a teenager he came to the service of Provost Balthasar Petersen in Tondern and was taught by him at his schoolmaster's institute. He then studied theology in Copenhagen and Kiel . In 1797 he was elected deacon in Leck . In 1805 he became chief preacher in the parish of St. Nicolai in Wyk on the island of Föhr . He wrote a textbook on navigation in verse. He was married to Christina (* 1785), daughter of Pastor Jaco Boysen in Hadersleben.
