Railway stations in Bavaria |
The station Freyung is an operating agency of the railway line Passau-Freyung . It is located in the Lower Bavarian town of Freyung in the Freyung-Grafenau district and is operated by the Ilz Valley Railway.
history
The station was built from 1890 to 1892 as the end point of the Passau – Freyung railway (this is also known as the Ilztalbahn ) and went into operation on October 15, 1892, when the section between Röhrnbach and Freyung was opened.
In 1982 the regular passenger traffic was stopped. Freight trains and special trains ran on this route until August 2002. Since then, this route was no longer passable due to flood damage. From August 2009 to July 2011 the railway line was operated by the Ilztalbahn GmbH , supported by the Förderverein Ilztalbahn e. V. made drivable again.
On July 16, 2011, rail traffic was resumed as part of the Danube-Moldau leisure traffic project on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays in the summer half-year and on special trips all year round. Since 2014, a condensed timetable on the Ilztalbahn with six pairs of trains per day has been made possible.
Buildings and systems
The station and ancillary buildings built in 1892 are quarry stone buildings , the two upper floors of the main building are made of brickwork. The arched window and door openings are set in red brick . Freyunger Bahnhof has been privately owned since 1999. The dilapidated building was extensively renovated from 2000 to 2002 and has been used as a residential and commercial building since then.
The engine shed and a servants' apartment are under monument protection (No. D-2-72-118-72). The description of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation reads:
“Locomotive shed, single-storey saddle roof construction, Cyclops masonry with corner blocks and brick surrounds, around 1890
Servant's apartment, two-storey saddle roof building as an extension of the locomotive shed, Cyclops masonry with corner blocks and brick surrounds, around 1890. "
The locomotive shed no longer has a siding.
There is an intermediate platform.
