The station Fuchūkeiba-seimommae ( Japanese 府中 競 馬 正 門前 駅 , Fuchūkeiba-seimommae-eki ) is a train station on the Japanese island of Honshū . It is operated by the Keiō Dentetsu railway company and is located in Tokyo Prefecture in the area of the city of Fuchū . Its main purpose is to develop the nearby Tokyo Racecourse . Translated, the name is “Fuchū horse racing front entrance”.

description

Fuchūkeiba-seimommae is a head station at the western end of the approximately 900 meters long Keibajō line of the railway company Keio Corporation , in Higashi-Fuchū of the Keio line branches off. On weekdays, a two-car train runs in one-man operation every 20 minutes during the day, and every 10 to 15 minutes during rush hour. On weekends and public holidays (especially at major events) trains with eight or ten cars run every 20 minutes. There are also several free high-speed trains to and from Shinjuku in central Tokyo .

The station is in the Hachimanchō district. It is oriented from east to west and has two blunt- ended tracks. These are located on a central platform , with track 1 having an additional side platform . A wide, projecting roof structure supported by columns spans almost the entire complex, with no side walls at all. From the south side, an approximately 250-meter-long footbridge leads across a parking lot and a street to the main grandstand of the racecourse.

In the 2018 fiscal year, an average of 3,229 passengers used the station every day. It should be noted that this number of days with horse racing is significantly higher.

history

The racecourse , which opened in 1933, was initially mainly developed through the Higashi-Fuchū and Fuchū-Honmachi stations , which over time proved to be inadequate. For this reason, the railway company decided Keio Teito Dentetsu (now Keio Dentetsu ) to one in Higashi Fuchū from the Keio line branching branch line to build. Together with the Fuchūkeiba-seimommae station, this went into operation on April 29, 1955.
