The Tokyo Racecourse ( Japanese 東京 競 馬 場 , Tōkyō keiba-jō ) is located in Fuchū in Tokyo Prefecture . It was opened on November 1, 1933 and is considered the most important horse racing track in Japan . The facility operated by the Japan Racing Association can accommodate up to 223,000 spectators.

Numerous high-value races take place here, including the Japan Cup , the Japanese Derby and the Yasuda Kinen. There are three different courses . The grass racetrack on the outside measures 2083 m; Thanks to the configurable east curve, races of 2102, 2121 and 2140 m length can also be held on it. A sand track (1899 m) follows on its inside, while the Steeplechase cable car (1675 m) is located on the very inside .

Two pedestrian bridges lead from the north side of the racecourse directly to the train stations Fuchūkeiba-seimommae of the company Keiō Dentetsu and Fuchū-Honmachi of JR East .
