Shi Yuhao has competed in long jump since 2014. At that time he jumped a season best of 7.39 m. A year later he qualified for the U18 World Championships in Cali, both in long and triple jump. He took sixth place in both disciplines. In May 2016, he jumped 8.02 m for the first time over the eight-meter mark and one month later set a new U20 Asian record at the Chinese U20 championships in Ordos with 8.30 m.
In 2017, when he was 19, he took part in an international adult championship for the first time at the world championships. After he passed the qualification, he jumped 8.26 m in the final, with which he took sixth place. In February 2018 he won the personal indoor best performance of 8.16 m at the Indoor Asian Championships in Tehran. A month later he also took part in the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham. With 8.12 m he was fifth.
In May 2018 he set his personal best of 8.43 m at the Diamond League meeting in Shanghai, with which he finished second. However, he suffered a serious ankle injury during the competition, which is why he could not compete in the following season.
