The Hartberg Station is a stop on the Therme train in the district capital Hartberg in eastern Styria . It is located east of the Hartberg city center.

history

The station was built in 1891 when the Fehring - Fürstenfeld local line was extended to Hartberg. From 1891 to 1905 this station was the end of the line. The line was extended to Friedberg by 1905 .

In the 1950s and 1960s, a pair of express railcars ran here between Vienna and Graz, with stops in Friedberg, Hartberg, Fürstenfeld, Fehring, Feldbach and Gleisdorf. In 1941 a pair of express trains ran here. These pairs of trains carried through coaches Vienna – Bad Gleichenberg for the spa guests. After the Second World War , there was also a Monday long-distance connection from Mogersdorf with falls in Fehring and stops in Hartberg and Friedberg to Vienna, the return journey was on Fridays.

Hartberg station was the seat of a route line until the 1970s. Up until the late 1990s, a railway maintenance depot was located here . In addition, because trains ended and went there, Hartberg was the seat of a train conveyance center .

In 2013 the station was modernized for 3.5 million euros. A new, 160 m long central platform has since made barrier-free access to the railway possible. The Park + Ride car park at the train station was expanded in 2014 for 300,000 euros and offers 53 parking spaces. The state and ÖBB each provided half of the financing.

Central platform

The station has a reception building and a goods shed in which there is an ÖBB operating point. It consists of a central platform with two platforms and two freight tracks. From here you can with regional trains directly to the main station Graz , Wiener Neustadt central station and the largest city in the district, Furstenfeld travel. Regional express trains to Vienna Meidling and Wiener Neustadt Hauptbahnhof leave from here several times a day .
