The station Kami-Shihoro ( Japanese 上士 幌 駅 , Kami-Shihoro-eki ) is a former train station on the Japanese island of Hokkaidō . It was located in Tokachi Sub-Prefecture in the area of Kamishihoro City and operated from 1926 to 1987.
description
Kami-Shihoro was a separation station on the Shihoro Line , which ran from Obihiro to Tokachi-Mitsumata . Here the (also disused) route of the Hokkaidō Takushoku Tetsudō branched off in the direction of Shintoku . The station was in the city center and faced south to north. He had two tracks for passenger traffic. These were on a central platform , the reception building was on the east side of the facility. There were also five shunting tracks and a pull-out track for freight traffic as well as a small depot .
The former station facility was redesigned into a park. Part of the central platform, which was supplemented with a roof and is now used for events, has been preserved.
history
The Ministry of Railways opened the station on July 10, 1926, along with a section of the Shihoro line beginning in Shihoro . This provided a connection south to Obihiro . The private railway company Hokkaidō Takushoku Tetsudō opened up Kami-Shihoro from the west; With the opening of the section to Shikaoi on November 26, 1929, the continuous connection to Shintoku was completed.
On November 26, 1935, the Shihoro Line was extended from Kami-Shihoro to Shimizudani; four years later it was completed and reached as far as Tokachi-Mitsumata . From 1931 to 1941 there was a siding to a forest enterprise of the paper company Ōji Seishi ; the wagons were pulled by horses and handed over to the railroad at the station. The Hokkaidō Takushoku Tetsudō put the easternmost section to Higashi-Urimaku down on August 31, 1949, making Kami-Shihoro again a through station.
The Japanese State Railways stopped freight traffic north of Kami-Shihoro on December 20, 1978. On November 15, 1982, the cessation of goods traffic on the remaining section to Obihiro followed. Finally, on March 23, 1987, a week before its privatization, the State Railroad shut down the entire Shihoro line.
