The station Mägdesprung is a landmarked station on the railway line Quedlinburg Hasselfelde in the city Harzgerode in Saxony-Anhalt belonging district Mägdesprung .

location

It is located at the northern end of the village on Kreisstraße and is entered in the local register of monuments as a train station .

Architecture and history

The two-storey station building was built in 1895. In addition to the ticket office , an apartment for the station master and a station catering facility was also set up in the building. The ground floor was built as a massive stone building, while the upper floor was built in half-timbered construction . The building fits in with the traditional local structures. The floor plan of the house shows late classical features.

To the east of the station building, a wooden extension in the style of a historicist garden restaurant was added. The polygonal porch facing the track side is remarkable . A timber-framed goods shed was built on the west side . On the south side of the reception building facing away from the railway, a half-timbered commercial building was added.

At the beginning of the 21st century, both the goods shed and the commercial building were demolished. Today (as of 2014) the station building is empty. However, the railway line itself is still in operation.
