The Mannheim-Wallstadt Station is a train station in Mannheim district Wallstadt . It is located on the Mannheim-Käfertal-Heddesheim railway line operated by MVV Verkehr GmbH and has two platform tracks. It contains the Wallstadt West , Wallstadt Bahnhof and Wallstadt Ost stops . Since 1995 the station has been the only stop on Tram-Train line 4 of the Mannheim / Ludwigshafen tram .
history
The Wallstadt train station was opened on May 1, 1909, when the Heddesheim route went into operation. The station has also been electrified since 1946. In December 2012, an intermediate turning loop was put into operation east of the flyover over the A6 .
Reception building
The reception building of the station still stands today and is privately owned. His address is Am Wallstadter Bahnhof 7 . Next to the main building there is still an outbuilding which used to be a kiosk where you could buy tickets.
Track systems
Mannheim-Wallstadt train station has two through tracks, each with an outside platform . The trains in the direction of Heddesheim stop on platform 1 on the house platform , and the trains in the direction of Mannheim on platform 2. As part of the integration of the route into the Mannheim tram, the two platforms were completely modernized and have since provided barrier-free access to the tram units .

Today (2016) the stops in the train station are stations of line 5A (Evening Academy - Central Station - National Theater - Käfertal - Heddesheim) of the meter-gauge tram Mannheim / Ludwigshafen , which is operated by the Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr (RNV). A 20-minute cycle is offered, which has been increased to a ten-minute cycle since December 2012 in the rush hour on working days - since June 2016 through line 15. The high-speed trains end at the Wallstadt Ost stop , as the turning loop is behind it.
