The Neuoelsnitz station (until April 30, 1906 Höhlteich , May 1, 1906 to October 4, 1930 Neuölsnitz ) is a station in southwest Saxony . In 1979 it was converted into a stop with a branch point, but has since been expanded again into a train station. In 2002/03 the platform was relocated and rebuilt in a different location.

history

Signal box 2 at the Neuoelsnitz level crossing (2016)

First of all, a loading point for goods traffic was inaugurated on October 15, 1878, the opening as a stop for passenger traffic took place on May 15, 1879 together with passenger traffic on the Stollberg – St. Egidien and Neuoelsnitz – Wüstenbrand . The design of the six-track station, equipped with two platforms , corresponded to the standard stations of the Royal Saxon State Railway at the time . Unusually, only one had sand track , and a about a car hub tailed siding of a coal merchant.

It was not until May 1, 1905, that the bus stop was converted into a train station, because Höhlteich, as the station was called until 1906, was never particularly important in terms of operations. Almost all trains to and from Wüstenbrand began and ended in Oelsnitz (Erzgeb) station , which u. a. in this regard was equipped with much more extensive track systems and a double-track boiler house . As early as the 1950s, the station area began to sink significantly due to mountain damage in the Lugau-Oelsnitz coalfield , which is why the track systems were continuously reduced until the end of the 1960s. However, in October 1967 the loading route was paved and equipped for handling hard coal. But by the beginning of the 1970s, handling had declined so much that it was completely relocated to Oelsnitz (Erzgeb) station.

Neuoelsnitz stop (2016)

On February 28, 1979, the Neuoelsnitz station was finally converted into a stop with a branch . In the course of the drastically reduced transport services at the turn of 1989/90, passenger traffic was stopped after the desert fire on August 10, 1990. The station building, which had been closed since 1988 due to mountain damage, was finally demolished in August 1993. On September 27, 1996, the rest of the goods traffic to Lugau was discontinued, so that only the unoccupied Neuoelsnitz stop remained.

After taking over the Stollberg – St. Egidien by Regio Infra Service Sachsen the platform was relocated in 2002/03 by approx. 200 m in the direction of Mitteloelsnitz in order to offer travelers a shorter route to the Oelsnitz district of Neuoelsnitz. During the same period, the remaining passing track was equipped with fallback switches.

Apart from signal box 2, nothing remains of the original high-rise buildings .
