The station Niigata Daigaku-mae ( Jap. 新潟大学前駅 , dt. "Station before the Niigata University ") is a single-track maintenance of Echigo Line of JR East in the district of Nishi in Niigata ( Niigata Prefecture ).
history
The station was built in 1984, almost 20 years after Niigata University's Ikarashi campus opened , when the Echigo line was fully electrified. Although the station bears the name of Niigata University, it is about a kilometer from the campus.
Construction
The station is on a single track section of the Echigo line. As a result, there is only one platform south of the route. The route runs on a railway embankment, so that access to the platform is via two flights of stairs to the west and east and is therefore not barrier-free. Access to the north, where Niigata University is also located, is via a pedestrian tunnel.
The platform is partially covered and has a lounge with a switch for the conductors, some vending machines and a public toilet. Access to the platform is via three automatic access barriers. There are two ticket machines.
