The Puigcerdà train station (also Puigcerda or Puigcerdá) is a border station in the Spanish Pyrenees on the border with France . It has tracks with two gauges, the Iberian broad gauge and the European standard gauge .

The town of Puigcerdà, with 8,838 inhabitants (as of November 2011), and its slightly lower train station are located at an altitude of more than 1200 meters in the comarca of Cerdanya in the province of Girona .
history
The section to Puigcerdà of the Barcelona – Latour-de-Carol - Enveitg line and the station were opened at the end of 1922, the extension to the French station Latour-de-Carol - Enveitg on June 5, 1928. From there comes a standard gauge track for French trains , which crossed the broad gauge track at the north end of the station and was interrupted at this point after 1997. The former freight yard with the reloading hall and all standard-gauge systems lie fallow.

Currently, three tracks are used on two platforms that are connected by level crossings. The station is served by trains to Latour-de-Carol - Enveitg on the R3 line on the Barcelona regional network. An inclined elevator, partly above ground, leads from the train station into the city.
