Hanover-Altenbeken Railway Station

After some dismantling measures, the station only has two tracks on an island platform. In the west of the station were the parking and loading tracks (1967: six tracks), today there are still three tracks including the head ramp. Today, including the track on the house platform, they are part of the connection to the Rhein-Sieg-Eisenbahn , which has been the IM and EVU on the route to Stadthagen since 2011. The building, which was heavily neglected and vacant in 2009, was erected in 1977; the island platform itself can be reached via an underpass dating from 1910. Tickets for local transport and selected long-distance destinations are available from machines on the platform.

There is a bus station and a Park & Ride facility at the station forecourt .

In the course of the economic stimulus programs, the station was renovated and modernized in many places from August to October 2009 by DB Station & Service AG. The focus of the measures was on improving passenger information by means of new dynamic text displays . Furthermore, the appearance of the station has been improved, wind and weather protection systems have been renovated, new waste bins have been installed and the signage system has been renewed. Defective areas on the platforms were repaired, the pedestrian underpass and the access to the platform were upgraded. In the autumn 2013 auction of the Karhausen auction house, known for station auctions, the station was sold for 47,000 euros.

In the coming years, the station is to be renovated and made barrier-free for around 2.1 million euros, an exact time has not yet been set. 2018 was named the year 2023.

The original station building was a two-and-a-half-story half-timbered building that was structurally altered many times. There were several additions, including a one-story train station in the west. Half-timbered walls were replaced by massive walls. The half-timbering on the weather side was partly covered with slate panels. It was demolished in September 1976.

The goods shed from 1875 still exists and is now used for other purposes. There are still the signal boxes Rw and Ro, the latter standing on the platform, it has been the dispatcher signal box Rof since 1974.

The reception building is still preserved, but in private hands. Only one of the former two tracks is left. To the west, the track led to the Weserhafen, and was used by freight until 2006. Trains go east towards Stadthagen. To the east were the extensive track systems, of which the southern part is built over today. The listed locomotive shed with water tower is still preserved.

Rinteln Extertalbahn

From 1929 to 1970, the station of the Extertalbahn to Barntrup was located to the west of the Bahnhofsallee leading to the station building . It led over the Weser and through the city center to Rinteln Süd station, which was the end point of the Extertalbahn from 1969. There was a platform and a transfer track here. Even before the end point, a track branched off to the port railway, via which the goods trains were handed over. Passenger traffic existed until 1969.
