List of train stations in France |
The Saint-Michel - Notre-Dame station is one of the main hubs of the Paris RER rapid transit network . It is located south of the Île de la Cité under Place Saint-Michel ( RER B ) and Quai Saint-Michel ( RER C ). About connecting corridors consist interchanges to Métro lines 4 (Station Saint-Michel ) and 10 (station Cluny - La Sorbonne ).
history
Line C
The current section of the RER line C was opened on May 28, 1900 as part of the World Exhibition in Paris . From 1909 it was possible to change to Métrolinie 4. Line C was then put into operation on September 26, 1979 in connection with some modernization measures.
Line B
The line was built in 1977 as an extension of the former Ligne de Sceaux north to Châtelet - Les Halles . A station was already set up at that time, but it could only be put into operation nine years later on February 17, 1988, because the difficult building site caused delays in the construction of the accesses and transfer options.
particularities
The station is still very narrow and dark, especially in the area of line C. On the south side there are platform barriers along the narrow platform with a width of only two meters.
On July 25, 1995 there was a bomb attack in a vehicle on Line B. Eight people were killed and 117 injured.
