BW The Schnaittenbach station is the terminus of the route Amberg Schnaittenbach . It is located in the Upper Palatinate town of Schnaittenbach . The station is still in operation today to handle goods traffic from the neighboring kaolin pits.

history

The Schnaittenbach terminus was built by the Royal Bavarian State Railways and has been in operation since the Amberg – Schnaittenbach line opened on October 5, 1898. Passenger traffic was severely restricted from 1960 and completely stopped on May 30, 1976. The remaining freight traffic was discontinued in 1996.

Buildings and systems

The reception building is a two-storey building made of embossed granite stones with corner blocks, which ends at the top with a half-hipped roof . Window and door frames are made of bricks in Art Nouveau style. Today it no longer has an operational function and has been used as a residential and commercial building since 1990. The reception and ancillary buildings are under monument protection .
