The Stammbach Station is the train station in the northeast of the market town Stammbach at the Bamberg-Hof railway .
The station building is now a monument (D-4-75-175-29). The main building is two-story, the upper floor is paneled and has a gable roof . The single-storey extensions, the signal box , the signal systems and the track tensioning systems, which were built between 1850 and 1930, are also listed.
The development of Stammbach by railroad took place in 1848 as part of the Ludwig-Süd-Nord-Bahn under the Bavarian King Ludwig I. The route led north past Stammbach after the Inclined Plane , so that the station was initially created outside the village. Over time, a separate district formed there. The connection was an important location factor in the course of industrialization and the flourishing textile industry. Further north in the Untereinzel district is a listed railway bridge from around 1847/48.
The post office in the village was upgraded in 1854 as a royal mail expedition of the royal Bavarian post in the station. A little later, mailboxes were set up in the village , which also made it possible to deliver letters. In 1897 a post office with a telegraph service was established in the village, which made the station post office less important.
The station is equipped with an electromechanical interlocking from 1953 and form signals .
It has two platforms with a height of 28 centimeters, the one on track 1 with a length of 136 meters and the one on track 3 with a length of 125 meters. The latter can be reached via a level crossing that is secured with a barrier and is heavily overgrown. The only point is at the transition from the single-track line from Bamberg – Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg – Marktschorgast to the double-track continuation to Hof.
