The Tianjin Railway Station ( Chinese  天津站 ) is the central station of the Chinese city of Tianjin . It has existed since 1888, was rebuilt in 1987/88 and restructured in 2007/08 with the connection to the high-speed network. Since August 1, 2008, it has been the end point of the Beijing – Tianjin high-speed line ( Chinese  京津 城 际 铁路 ) on which speeds of up to 350 km / h can be reached. He is in other high-speed routes such. For example, the Beijing – Shanghai high-speed line and the Beijing – Harbin railway line are integrated. Since October 1, 2012, lines 2, 3 and 9 of the Tianjin subway have been connected to the station.

The station was built in 1888 when the Kaiping ( Chinese  開平 ) railway line was extended to Tianjin, the name of the line was changed to Jintang Railway ( Chinese  津 唐 铁路 ) as a result .

After the average number of passengers had risen to over 65,000 per day, the expansion of the station was included as a key project in the Seventh Five-Year Plan of the People's Republic of China (1986–1990). From 1987 to 1988 it was rebuilt and the 66 m high clock tower was added. The reopening took place on October 1st on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the station by the Minister of Railways Li Senmao.

In 2007 and 2008 there was another renovation in preparation for the 2008 Summer Olympics . In the city several sports competitions were held and so was Tianjin within this framework with the high-speed passenger route Beijing-Tianjin to Beijing tethered.
