List of train stations in China |
Tianjin West Railway Station ( Chinese 天津西站 , Pinyin Tianjin Xi Zhàn ) is a railway station in the inner city district of Hongqiao of centrally-administered city of Tianjin in China .
The listed old station building was built between 1909 and 1910 at the starting point of the Jin Pu train to Pukou (north of Nanjing ). That Tianjin was still under the administration of the former European occupation states , even after the end of the occupation by the United States , is evident from the architecture, which is based on the style of German train stations.
The station was completely renovated between 1993 and 1995 and rebuilt again in 2003. Extensive construction work began again in May 2009 in order to upgrade the Westbahnhof to the central interface between the Beijing – Shanghai and Beijing – Tianjin high-speed lines, as well as regional traffic. Then it should be able to handle up to 5000 passengers per hour.
