Wehrheim station
The station Wehrheim is the station of the core community Wehrheim an der Taunusbahn . The station building is a cultural monument under monument protection .
history
For the Taunusbahn Homburg - Usingen , which opened on October 15, 1895 , uniform type stations were built in Köppern , Anspach and Wehrheim. The Wehrheim station building at 9.2 km is the only one of these buildings to be preserved. It is an elongated clinker brick building consisting of the counter hall , an interlocking room protruding towards the track and a goods shed . The raising of the originally flat roof and the plastering have significantly changed the building compared to its original state. While the station was built on the outskirts of the town, both sides of the station are now surrounded by buildings.
The first station master was Wilhelm Ernst . In 1904, the then-district road Usingen Bad Homburg (until the construction of the bypass was national road 456 , now Bahnhofstrasse) with barriers provided, after it had previously been in an accident a few years: A wagon was about to cross more quickly before the train the tracks. This failed and the carter and horse died. There was also an accident on the other side of the train station, on Obernhainer Weg , on June 28, 1915: Farmer Ludwig Bender's cow cart was hit by the train and a cow died. This level crossing was later provided with a flashing light and then in 1992 with half barriers.
After the railway accident in Dahlerau , exit signals were retrofitted in Wehrheim as on many branch lines at the end of the 1970s. As a special feature, these branch line light signals in Wehrheim also replaced the entry signals.
traffic
The single-track Taunusbahn has two platform tracks in the station. There, keep the lines of Taunusbahn as RMV - line 15 Monday to Friday every half hour, otherwise every hour. In principle, the tracks are used in the direction of operation - even without a train crossing - (track 1 towards Usingen, track 2 towards Bad Homburg), but individual non-crossing trains to Bad Homburg, among other things in school traffic, move to track 1 on the town side due to better accessibility out.
Neighboring train stations are the train stations in Anspach and Saalburg (near the Saalburgsiedlung district).
