Worms Bridge was a stopping point in the city of Worms .

Geographical location

It was located at the western end of the Rhine bridge in Worms , on the left bank of the river Rhine directly on the river bridge and thus in an elevated position on the northern edge of the Worms Rhine port , served this and the adjacent industrial area (today: industrial area Worms-Nord ), so it was primarily important for commuters . The stop was served by trains from the Nibelungen Railway (Worms – Bensheim), the Weinheim – Worms line and the Darmstadt – Worms line ("Alte Riedbahn").

history

The breakpoint went into operation with the opening of the Rhine bridge in 1900, at that time under the name Worms-Rhein . In the first decades of its existence it was also staffed. In 1902 he was upgraded to 3rd class station. On December 1, 1926, the stop was opened for luggage and express freight traffic.

The Worms Bridge stop was one of the last three train stations in Worms , along with Worms main station and Pfeddersheim station. In the end, only the trains of the Nibelungen Railway stopped here. The service of the stop was discontinued when the timetable changed on December 14, 2014 because the number of travelers was too low: Most of the commuters came by car. The platforms and entrances are still structurally intact (as of 2019). Ruderal vegetation accesses them.
