Zaragoza Delicias train station
Delicias train station in the Spanish city of Zaragoza is a combined train and bus station. The station was designed by the architects Carlos Ferrater, José María Valero and Félix Arranz and the engineer Juan Broseta. It is located in the west of the city over lowered tracks that lead the station to the east in tunnels under the city and westwards to the daylight, where there is a junction between several railway lines and a gauge change system, which allows suitable rolling stock, from broad gauge - to switch to standard gauge tracks. The station was opened in 2003 with the commissioning of the first construction phase of the high-speed line Madrid-Barcelona / Huesca and has since replaced the more centrally located El Portillo station for the long-distance line . The station houses tracks of different gauges as well as partially unused railway tracks that are intended for a future subway , the second expansion stage of the Saragossa S-Bahn and planned high-speed lines. Full use of the station is planned for 2015. There is also a separate long-distance and local transport area in the building. For access to the long-distance platforms, there is a baggage control system like at airports, which was introduced in Spain as a result of the attacks on March 11, 2004. The station building is 600 m long, 80 m wide and consists of three levels. A shopping center, ticket office and access control are located on the ground floor. The middle level provides access to the tracks. At the bottom there are several island platforms as well as eight tracks when they are finally used. The bus station is located in a side building.
