The Dąbrowa Górnicza Strzemieszyce – Dąbrowa Górnicza railway is a partially disused railway line in the Polish Silesian Voivodeship .
Course and condition
The line begins at Dąbrowa Górnicza Strzemieszyce station on the Tunel – Sosnowiec railway line and runs north to the Dąbrowa Górnicza Huta Katowice junction on the Dąbrowa Górnicza Ząbkowice – Kraków railway , after which a connection ran to the 4,9 km northwest to the Babia Ława junction Junction Dąbrowa Górnicza Piekło on the Dąbrowa Górnicza Ząbkowice – Brzeziny Śląskie railway line began, after a curve it ran southwest parallel to the Warszawa – Katowice railway line to the Dąbrowa Górnicza station (km 9.936), where the line ended.
The line is or was continuously single-track and electrified with 3000 volts DC voltage, but the line is closed after Dąbrowa Górnicza Huta Katowice. On the other section, the maximum speed is forty kilometers per hour.
history
The route was opened on January 26, 1885 on what was then Russian territory by the Ivangorod-Dombrower Railway , after the First World War the area came to Poland and the route to the Polish State Railways . After it was operated by the Deutsche Reichsbahn after the German occupation in 1939 , the line has been Polish again since 1945 and was electrified on May 30, 1975. The passenger traffic was stopped in 1993, the part between Dąbrowa Górnicza Huta Katowice and Dąbrowa Górnicza 2000 closed.
