The railway Villages-Velden was a 20.5 km long branch line , which at Villages of the railway line from Munich to Simbach branched off and after Velden led.

The route leads from the Isen valley to the Vils valley . The route was characterized by frequent changes in inclines and declines as well as many curves. It was opened on December 24, 1898 and brought Dorfen a nearby train station. In 1944 there were four pairs of trains running on weekdays and three on Sundays and public holidays; they only ran 3rd class. In 1963 there were five pairs of trains on weekdays, four on Sundays and public holidays; these were driven with Uerdingen rail buses. The main purpose of the line was to connect Velden and Taufkirchen to the main line from Munich to Mühldorf; the other stops never received a significant number of passengers.

Passenger traffic was stopped on May 26, 1968, freight traffic only on July 1, 1993. On July 31 of the same year, the line was closed. Despite the decline in freight traffic, the superstructure was partially renewed in the mid-1980s.

Today all tracks have been dismantled and a cycle path runs along the entire route .
