Railway line Varberg – Ätran to Varberg

The Fegen – Ätran railway ( Fegen – Ätrans Järnväg ) was a six-kilometer standard-gauge railway in Sweden .

history

On November 21, 1884, the manufacturer Wilhelm Wallberg applied for a license for the railway line . He built the line between the Fegen and Ätran stations on his own. The line was opened to general traffic on March 18, 1887. Halmstad – Nässjö Järnvägsaktiebolag (HNJ) took over the management.

Rails with a meter weight of 22.5 kg / m were used. The greatest gradient was 16.67 per mille, the smallest radius of curvature on the main track was 350 meters and it was allowed to travel at a maximum speed of 27 km / h.

On July 1, 1890, Fegen – Ätrans Järnväg (FAJ) was bought by Halmstad – Nässjö Järnvägar (HNJ) for 70,000 crowns . The concession was transferred on July 23, 1891. With the opening of the Varberg – Ätran railway line by Varberg – Ätrans Järnvägsaktiebolag (WbÄJ) on July 22, 1911, the Ätran terminus became a through station.

As part of the general nationalization of the railway , the HJN and with it this line became state-owned on July 1, 1945, and Statens Järnvägar took over management .

All traffic was stopped on February 1, 1961.
