Willi Wirth (* 1938 or 1939) is a former German ski jumper .
Career
Oberwiesenthaler Wirth, who started for ASK Vorwärts Brotterode , was a member of the GDR national ski jump team for seven years. He took part in the Four Hills Tournament in the 1960/61 and 1961/62 seasons. While he was 13th in the overall ranking after a 20th place in Obersdorf, two 13th places in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Innsbruck and 17th place in Bischofshofen, he took the following season as well as the other GDR jumpers due to the political situation at the time, only took part in the jumping on Austrian soil. There he finished the competitions as 28th in Innsbruck and 20th in Bischofshofen.
A few days later he took second place behind Helmut Recknagel in the elimination competition in Oberwiesenthal for the 1962 World Cup . In the fourth edition of the Nordic ski competitions on March 3rd and 4th of the same year, which was a forerunner of the World Cup, which did not exist at the time and was held for the last time in 1962, he took part in a competition consisting only of GDR, Polish and Czechoslovakian participants Competition on the Aschbergschanze third place behind Dietmar Klemm and Reiner Brettschneider .
His jump at the 10th German Championship on February 8, 1958 in Lauscha is part of the DEFA production Der Augenzeuge 1959 . After his career, Wirth suffered a heart attack at the age of 38, which was followed by another two decades later.
