The Lübeck – Lübeck-Schlutup railway line is a single-track, non-electrified branch line in Schleswig-Holstein .

history

The line was put into operation on August 20, 1902 by the Lübeck-Büchener Railway under Walther Brecht . The track was built for the Schlutup fish processing industry. From 1908 to 1911, the construction of the railway resulted in a large industrial area between the railway and the Trave, where wood-processing companies and a sleeper factory were located. Passenger traffic on this route was stopped in 1916 after the tram to Schlutup was built in 1914 . During the Second World War, however, there was movement of workers for the employees of the German weapons and ammunition works, which had been built in Lauerholz from 1936 . The Stecknitzer Tannen stop has been set up for this purpose. These works also had several sidings.

Today (2015) goods are still handled in Lübeck-Schlutup . In Schlutup harbor, paper rolls from Sweden are loaded from the ship onto the train and sent on to Italy.

Occasionally, there are considerations to reactivate passenger transport in the form of a regional or S-Bahn. So far, however, such plans have always been discarded at a very early stage of the discussion because of the poor cost-benefit ratio .

Route

In Strecknitz, the line branches off from the Lübeck – Bad Kleinen line , but runs parallel to the main line as far as behind the Wakenitz . It crosses Brandenbaumer Landstrasse and Kirschenallee and continues along Wesloer Landstrasse to Schlutup. In Brandenbaum, the Lübeck port railway branches off to Konstinkai. The train station of Schlutup is under monument protection .
