The Stupno – Radnice railway is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built and operated by the Imperial and Royal Bohemian Western Railway (BWB). It runs from Stupno after Radnice ( Radnitz ).
According to a decree of the Czech government, the line has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.
history
The line was put into operation on December 1, 1893 by BWB as an extension of the existing Chrast – Stupno-Břas line. With the nationalization of the BWB, it belonged to the network of the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) from January 1, 1895 .
In 1912, the local railway timetable indicated four mixed pairs of 2nd and 3rd class trains between Stupno-Břas and Radnitz, all of which were connected to and from Chrast . They needed 19-22 minutes for the seven-kilometer route.
After the First World War , which Austria-Hungary lost , the line became the property of the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).
During the Second World War , the route lay entirely in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia . The operators were now the Protectorate Railways Bohemia and Moravia (ČMD-BMB). On May 9, 1945, the entire line came back to the ČSD.
On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).
In the 2012 timetable, the route was operated every two hours by passenger trains on the Chrást u Plzně – Radnice route. On weekdays, additional trains condensed the offer, sometimes at hourly intervals.
Since December 12, 2016, all passenger trains to and from Plzeň hl.n. bound through. Since December 9, 2018, all passenger trains have been operating in this relation.
