The railway Chrást u Plzně-Stupno is a regional railway line in the Czech Republic , originally from the kk priv. Bohemian Western Railway (BWB) as a mining railway was built and operated. It runs from Chrást u Plzně ( Chrast ) to Stupno .

According to a decree of the Czech government, the line has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.

history

The BWB opened the line on April 1, 1863, from April 2, 1863 it was operated as planned. With the nationalization of the BWB, it belonged to the network of the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) from January 1, 1895 .

In 1912, the local railway timetable showed four mixed pairs of 2nd and 3rd class trains between Chrast and Stupno-Břas, all of which continued to and from Radnitz. They needed 40-42 minutes for the 10-kilometer route.

After the First World War , which Austria-Hungary lost , the line became the property of the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).

During the Second World War , the route lay entirely in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia . The operators were now the Protectorate Railways Bohemia and Moravia (ČMD-BMB). On May 9, 1945, the entire line came back to the ČSD.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

In the 2012 timetable, the route was operated every two hours by passenger trains on the Chrást u Plzně – Radnice route. On weekdays, additional trains condensed the offer, sometimes at hourly intervals. Since December 12, 2016, all passenger trains to and from Plzeň hl.n. bound through.

With the commissioning of the Ejpovice tunnel on the Praha – Plzeň railway line on December 9, 2018, the Ejpovice – Chrást u Plzně section was effectively integrated into the line to Stupno and Radnice. The systems no longer required for regional traffic, such as the second track and the electrical overhead line, were subsequently removed. Instead of the previous Dýšina-Horomyslice stop, a new Dýšina stop is planned closer to the eponymous location . The Chrást u Plzně obec stop has also been rebuilt in a new location. Since then, passenger trains have been connected on the Plzeň hl.n. – Radnice route with a change of direction in Ejpovice.
