The Szerencs – Nyíregyháza railway is a railway line in the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén counties . It runs over a distance of 50 km from Nyíregyháza via Tokaj to Szerencs . The 5-kilometer section from Szerencs to Mezőzombor is double-lane, the remaining 45 kilometers are single-lane. The entire line is electrified with 25 kV 50 Hz .
history
The Szerencs-Tokaj-Nyíregyháza line was opened in May 1859. In 1967 the line was electrified. From 1979 to 1982 the line was adapted and rebuilt to allow a top speed of 120 km / h.
