The Hufschlag Abzweig – Waging line is a branch line in Bavaria . It branches off the Rosenheim – Salzburg railway line in Hufschlag and leads to Waging am See , the railway terminus is called Waging.

history

In the 1890s, a possible rail link to the community of Waging am See was discussed. Since the community of Waging had a close connection to the district town of Laufen , a railway line from Waging to Laufen was considered. Laufen is on the line to Freilassing, which was completed in 1890 . However, the greater importance of the Rosenheim – Salzburg route meant that a rail connection to Traunstein was planned. On June 30, 1900 the construction of the line from Traunstein to Waging was specified in a law. After the planning work in 1900 and 1901, construction work began in November 1901. Around 300 workers were deployed so that the line could be opened on December 1, 1902.

Initially, a class D XI tank locomotive (road number 2047) with five passenger cars drove here . Between 1933 and 1945 Waging was the end point of " KdF " special trains. Rail buses were soon used in the post-war period . The class 628.4 railcars, which have been in service since 1995, require 20 minutes for the Traunstein – Waging route. Since 2003, vacationers with a Waginger Kurkarte have been able to use the Südostbayernbahn railway lines as often as they want. This enabled the number of passengers to be increased to 700 on weekdays in 2005. The remote Kirchhalling stop was abandoned when the timetable changed in December 2012. The platform of the final stop in Waging was rebuilt in 2018 for barrier-free use.
