The Tuomioja – Raahe railway line ( Finnish Raahen rata ) is a railway line in Finland . It has the Russian track width of 1524 mm, a length of 31.5 km and is electrified. The route is owned by the Finnish state and VR-Yhtymä is the operator.

history

The section between Tuomioja (until 1953 the station was called Lappi ) and Raahe was opened on December 5, 1899 by Raahen rautatie Oy . This made the route one of the few private railway companies in Finland. In 1926 the route was nationalized. Together with the line, VR took over two steam locomotives, a pair of benzene railcars and 43 cars that were only procured in 1925. This gave VR its first railcars.

Passenger traffic ceased in the autumn of 1966. In 2001 the line was electrified.

On September 1, 1900, the extension from Raahe to the port in Lapaluoto followed. Other sources speak of September 1, 1968.

business

Only freight trains run on the route. Between Tuomioja and Raahe the speed is limited to 80 km / h and between Raahe and Rautaruukki speeds of up to 35 km / h are permitted for shunting. Six freight trains run on the route every day.
