The Baie des Anges ( German  "Bay of Angels" ) is a bay on the French Mediterranean coast , more precisely on the Côte d'Azur . It extends in front of the city of Nice with its famous Promenade des Anglais boulevard , to which the Quai des Etats-Unis connects to the east .

To the east, the bay is bounded by the Cap de Nice , which separates Nice from Villefranche-sur-Mer , and to the west by the mouth of the Var and the Cap d ' Antibes .

The bay is shaped by the imposing architecture of the Marina Baie des Anges , a residential complex designed by the architect Andre Minangoy (1905–1985). While the complex was still very controversial when construction began in 1969, public opinion changed so much by the time the work was completed in 1993 that the buildings are regarded as landmarks of the area.
