The Bajo Carmen is a shoal in the Gerlache Strait west of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located 900 m northwest of the center of Useful Island .
Scientists of the 5th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1950–1951) named it. Possible namesake is possibly a family member of one of the scientists.
