The Bakhuis Mountains are about 150 km long, from south to north extending mountain range in Suriname , in the district of Sipaliwini .

It is a mountain range located in West Suriname, immediately bordering the Central Suriname Nature Reserve to the west . Most of the as yet unnamed peaks reach a maximum height of 1,027 m. The Bakhuis Mountains are seen as part of the enormous, approx. 30 km wide and 350 km long faults ( Horst ) that extend from the Corantijn to the coastal area.

That it is not part of the nature reserve is probably due to its richness in bauxite (plateau bauxite), for which mining plans have existed since the 1970s.

The mountain is named after the leader of the 1901 undertaken Coppename - expedition , named the Dutch Old Military Louis August Bakhuis (1855-1932).
