from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Baldridge was a place in Pecos County in the US state of Texas . It's a ghost town today .

geography

Baldridge was in west central Texas, 16 miles northeast of Fort Stockton in north central Pecos County. The place was 770 meters above sea level and had no water surface.

history

The construction of the Kansas City, Mexico and Orient Railway reached the Baldridge area in 1913, where the railway company set up a stop . The station was named after the topographical conditions: Baldridge = bald ridge. A small town of the same name was built around the train station and had around 200 inhabitants in 1939. The barren land and lack of water resources made it impossible to use the area for agriculture in the long term. In 1945 the number of inhabitants had dropped to 50. In the 1950s the place was given up.
