Bali (Greece)
Bali ( Greek Μπαλί ( n. Sg. )) Is a seaside resort in the municipality of Geropotamos in the municipality of Mylopotamos on the north coast of the Greek island of Crete , about 50 km west of Heraklion and about 40 km east of Rethymno .
Originally a small fishing village, Bali today has many new hotels and guest houses. The place still has a small port, near which there are also several taverns , where the fish caught by the fishermen from Bali is served.

Bali is located in the western half of a one kilometer wide bay, which is divided into smaller sections by numerous rocky outcrops. Coming from the Cretan coast there is first a 300 meter long sandy beach, which is lined with numerous restaurants and clubs. Since the surf occurs largely unhindered on this beach, it is particularly popular with water sports enthusiasts. In the direction of the town center there is a smaller beach, which is suitable for families with children due to its limited size and its flat level. Around the former town center there is a small harbor and a beach that is mainly used by the local hotels. At the end of the village, just before the open sea, there is a small pebble beach with a rock in front of it. Due to the clear water and the numerous grottos, this beach is suitable for diving and snorkeling.
Attractions
Parts of the old town center have been preserved around the port. The most important sight in Bali is about one kilometer south, above the town on the slope of the range of hills. The local monastery of Agios Ioannis Prodromos is a small hermitage that has been inhabited by a few monks again after a period of vacancy since the 1980s. The chapel with its classical facade is from the 17th century, from the terrace of the building complex there is a view over the bay of Bali.
