Baling press (waste management)
A baling press is a machine for compressing various materials in order to be able to transport them in a space-saving manner or to be able to recycle them as valuable material.
commitment
Baling presses are used to compact packaging made of cardboard , cardboard , plastic , containers made of plastic and metal, PET bottles , foils, production waste of all kinds, clippings from shredders, fiber materials such as cotton , wood wool , mineral fibers and other materials. Compaction can reduce the volume of waste by up to 95%. This is how waste becomes valuable material: The materials are collected separately, compressed and can be fed back into the recycling cycle.
Types
There are different types of baling presses, which can be differentiated according to the pressing direction, degree of automation and housing shape. Examples are:
- Horizontal baling presses
- Semi-automatic baler
- Fully automatic channel baling press
- Vertical balers
- Cabinet presses
- Multi-chamber presses
- Special presses (barrel press)
Horizontal pressing direction
Horizontal baling presses are particularly suitable for bulky and expansive materials. They have a larger footprint, but have a low overall height. Wholesalers, the paper industry, printing companies and waste disposal companies in particular use these presses to compress cardboard, paper, foils, etc.
Semi-automatic
With semi-automatic baling presses, the material is fed in and the finished bales are strapped manually.
Fully automatic
With fully automatic baling presses (usually channel baling presses), the material is fed to the press by conveyor belt or a pallet truck and then compacted and strapped . Fully automatic systems are only suitable for pressing medium to large amounts of material (from around one tonne of material per hour). Due to the large footprint required, such baling presses are used in industrial and logistics companies, distribution centers and waste disposal companies.
Vertical pressing direction
Vertical baling presses can press small to medium quantities of material from top to bottom on a compact footprint. Vertical baling presses are often used in retail and wholesale, industry and logistics companies to compress cardboard, paper, foils, hard plastics and PET.
