At the end of the last century the city developed tremendously as large settlement projects were created in Boden Park. The parish grew accordingly.

A “House of Studies” of the Augustinians has existed in Ballyboden since 1955. There, students of the order were trained in a two-year course in philosophy. When the new church, Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel , opened in Ballyroan in 1966 , the Augustinians got involved. You had already acquired Orlagh as a novitiate in 1872 . When University College Dublin moved from Earlsfort Terrace to the new Belfield campus in South Co Dublin, the Order also acquired St. Catherine's , Ballyboden, the former residence of Mr. Justice O'Byrne .
