The village of Balm in the canton of Bern belongs to the municipality of Meiringen in Switzerland , therefore also known as Balm bei Meiringen .

Balm is located on the alluvial land between the Aare gorge and Lake Brienz . It is located on the southern side of the Aare , west of the main settlement of Meiringen.

Balm itself is a long street village, consisting of mostly older, south-facing houses. At the eastern entrance to the village there is another group of houses with wooden Oberland houses.

The local three-story schoolhouse was closed at the end of the school year in 2006 and converted into a residential building. Next to the fire station is a former military camp in Balm.
